Seasonal Trends: Pre-Fall 2013| Live Laugh Love to Shop

Summer is winding down and fall is just around the corner. Soon you’ll be trading in sandals and wedges for riding boots and suede booties. Believe it or not a lot of spring trends are reappearing this fall. That being said, you can save a lot by repurposing outfits you already own and have room to splurge on the seasons newest looks.  Keep these trends in mind while prepping your wardrobe for fall.

It’s In the Detail: Leather

Leather trimming and details came into play in spring 2013, and it’s only ramping up in the fall.  Leather accents will show up as paneling on dresses and blouses, and on the pocket details jackets and skirts. Choose leather leggings for a chic and sexy day to night look. You may even see leather detailing on more conservative apparel, like professional wear.

Color Blocking

Color blocking was big last fall, and it’s returning as a central trend once again.  Crisp,
clean lines and solid color combinations create a super sophisticated look with minimal effort. You can keep it simple with a classic black and white monochromatic combo, or make a statement with bright red or rich blue hues.

Intense Metallics

Cool silver and gold tones will be central styles this fall. Distressed metallic designs will act as focus pieces, so pair them with cool, solid colors. This trend is a lot less conservative than other fall looks, but you’ll be seeing lots of foiled patterns and prints across dresses, denim, and jackets. However, even if you aren’t the most adventurous when it comes to contemporary trends, make a statement with metallic accessories instead.

Pretty in Pink

Although usually associated with spring color palettes, powder pink made a strong appearance in many pre-fall shows and ready-to-wear lines. Rose colored coats, sweaters, and shoes will be popular this season. Mix soft pastel pink with edgy
pieces and intense textures to create more feminine looks. If you aren’t sold on
powder pink overcoat, look for fashion accessories in a light rose shade.

Bold Patterns in Cool Tones

From hounds tooth to leopard, and polka dots to rich floral patterns, classic prints will be everywhere.  Some of these patterns will be combined with the metallic and
powder pink trend for an interesting twist on traditional styles. However, if you want to make a statement while avoiding the chance of a faux-pas, stick to cool but
rich hues paired with dark, solid colors.
